Fidwise Privacy Policy

This explains what Fidwise collects, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and how to have it deleted. It is written in plain English on purpose.

The short version. You can read Fidwise news without an account and without giving us anything. If you sign in, we store your account details, what you post, and what you choose to track, so the app can work. We do not sell your data, and we do not use it to advertise to you. You can delete your account and everything in it from inside the app at any time.

Who we are

Fidwise is a financial news and discussion app for Indian retail investors, operated from India. You can reach us at contact@fidwise.com for anything in this policy, including a request to delete your data.

Using Fidwise without an account

Reading the news feed, opening a story and reading the discussion under it do not require an account. If you never sign in, we do not know who you are. The app keeps a random code on your device so we can count how many devices use Fidwise and how often they come back. It is not linked to your name, email or phone number. Reinstalling the app or clearing its data creates a new code.

What we collect, and why

When you sign in

You can sign in with Google or with Apple. We receive and store your name, your email address and your profile picture from whichever you choose.

If you sign in with Apple and choose to hide your email address, Apple gives us a forwarding address instead of your real one. We treat that as your address and never ask you to reveal the real one.

What we store once you have an account

WhatWhy
Your name, email address and pictureTo identify your account and show who wrote a comment
Your public profile: handle, short biography, investor labelSo other people can find and recognise you
A profile photograph, if you upload oneTo show on your profile
Your comments, replies and reactionsThey are the discussion
Anything you post as a takeIt is your published writing
Who you follow and who blocks whomTo build your feed and to keep blocking working
Holdings you type in yourselfTo filter news to what you own
Holdings imported from a broker you connectTo show your portfolio and filter news, only if you connect one
Consultation bookings and their messagesTo run the conversation you booked
A notification token for your deviceTo send the alerts you asked for
How the app is used, linked to a random code on your device, and to your account if you sign inTo find faults and see which parts are worth improving

Connecting a broker

Connecting a brokerage account is entirely optional and Fidwise works fully without it. If you do connect one, you are sent to your broker to sign in. We never see or store your broker password. Your broker gives us permission to read your holdings, and we store those holdings so we can show your portfolio and filter news to it. You can disconnect at any time.

Camera and photographs

The app asks for permission to use your photographs or camera only when you choose to set a profile picture. If you refuse, everything else in the app still works. We upload only the image you pick.

What we do not do

Who else can see your data

Other people using Fidwise can see anything you publish: your public profile, your comments, your replies, your reactions and your takes. Holdings you type in yourself stay private to you.

Beyond that, your data is handled by the services that run Fidwise, and only so that it can run: Microsoft Azure hosts our servers and stores our data, in India; Google and Apple provide sign in; Expo delivers notifications to your device; the broker you choose to connect, if you connect one. None of them are given your data for their own purposes.

Where your data is kept

On Microsoft Azure servers located in India. Some of the services above operate internationally, so data may be handled outside India in the course of providing them.

How long we keep it

Deleting your account

Open Fidwise, go to your profile, and choose Delete Account. That removes your profile, your comments, your reactions, your follows and your posts. You can also write to contact@fidwise.com and ask us to do it.

Your choices

Children

Fidwise is not intended for children under thirteen, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has given us data, write to us and we will remove it.

Changes to this policy

If we change this, the date at the top changes with it. If a change materially affects what we collect or what we do with it, we will say so in the app rather than quietly editing this page.
